back with more Moroccan love. tried to find the most interesting photos of the lot so i won’t feel bored reading this post ten years down the road. leggo!
MOROCCO LOVIN’ – DAY 2: Casablanca; Meknes
the view right outside our hotel. not much of a view actually.
Grand Mosquée Hassan II – largest mosque in morocco with the world’s tallest minaret (60 stories high)
the weather was still pretty breezy at 9am (approx.)
so i’m convinced the “twist” sign is truly a chinese thing. TWIST.
inside the mosque – we had to remove our shoes and hold it in a plastic bag provided. there were bird’s droppings on the carpet. FML.
after the mosque tour, we took a train to the next city – Meknes.
went to another mosque place, which slowly got boring :/ i think we visited like a total of 6/7/8 (???) mosques during the trip.
went to an old prison which was built underground. the weather was super scorching by this time (around 2pm), so going underground was actually very comfy and cooling!
local souvenir (aka tourists scamming) shop.

MOROCCO LOVIN’ – DAY 3: Fes
day 3 saw us visiting the exterior of a royal palace. yes, exterior only :S
beautiful scenery and i think i look mighty cool.
other travellers with us.
back row: Andrew from Melbourne, Kirstine from New Zealand, Kristal from Western Australia, Lahcen our guide for the trip, Janelle from Newcastle, Narash, Barbara from USA
front row: Saira from Melbourne (Andrew’s lover), Eileen and yours truly.
top: photoception
bottom: as you can see, i’m doing this mighty tourist pose a lot.
visited the pottery gallery… is that what they call it?
sorry i couldn’t resist doing this.
this lady super cute she paused her work to let me take a photo!
as you would have observed, there’s a lot of handicraft going on…
everyone loves to see before-after photos
doing the chinese tourist pose just to irritate narash.
visited the tannery (where skins and hides are tanned) and it sure stank.
top right: the white buckets are filled with pigeon droppings to soak the animal (cow/ goat/ horse/ camel) hides as the ammonia in the shit can soften the skin.
the colourful buckets are filled with colourings to dye the leather.
bottom left: end product.
and this isn’t really helping.
proceeded to do some scarf shopping to get ready for the sahara.
all ready for the flying sand and scorching sun.
abrupt end with this photo of dinner.
that’s all for now my eyes are shutting so i’ll end with a goodnight!
xoxo.
